St. Petroc's Church Bodmin
Built in 1469 - 72 St Petroc's is the largest parish church in Cornwall.Petroc’s reliquary is an ivory casket which is reported to hold the bones of the Saint. This casket rests in the south aisle wall and is thought to be of Sicilian origin given by Walter of Coultances in 1177.
In the churchyard is a ‘holy well’ whose water was used to remedy eye problems.
Bodmin is former county town of Cornwall and is situated next to the breathtaking Bodmin moor which includes popular treks to Roughter and Brown Willy. The towns name comes from the Cornish words "bod" (dwelling) and "monegh" (monks). The town is now bypassed by most travellers entering or leaving Cornwall by road or rail.
